It was a great night as our high school introduced our inaugural class of Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. Both the varsity boys and girls teams came away with double-header wins to help celebrate. It was special to have both the Rocks & Chiefs play tonight, given the long and shared traditions our two schools have together. The Chiefs had a balanced scoring attack with Alaina Heitmeyer, Ashley Criscenti, Abbey Sokol, and Carli Vaughan, netting 12, 11, 10, and eight, respectively. Canton went to the free throw line 17 times, with Alaina Heitmeyer going eight for eight. Defensively, Canton did a nice job of disrupting Salem’s motion offense, causing a number of turnovers and not giving too many second looks at the rim. Ashley Criscenti, Jamie Wendel, and Abby Sokol were key in getting a number of timely defensive stops. Additionally, Carli Vaughan had three blocks and Ashley Criscenti tallied six steals. Next up for Canton is “Senior Night” on Friday when the Chiefs host the Patriots of Livonia Franklin. Let’s Go Chiefs!
