The Canton Chiefs traveled to Lake Erie Metropark and the Marauder Invitational to take on the best teams from downriver. After a night of rain, the course was soft and muddy, yet the Chiefs stepped up and took 3 medals and 2nd place (by one point) in the D1 contest.
Joe Michalak set an new Canton record for the Lake Erie course finishing at 16:52.
Right behind Joe was Canton’s Grant Hoffmeyer running an impressive 16:57.
Also scoring for the Chiefs were Chirag Bangera (18:02), Adam Lake (18:24), and Chatham McGuire who stepped up with a season best 18:54.
In the Freshmen JV race, the Chiefs were dominant and finished in first place. Trevor Hammond won the race in 19:13 (PR) beating the 2nd place finisher by nearly 20 seconds. Max Farnsworth was 4th overall with a career best 19:57. Nathan Clark was 6th overall (20:04).
Also scoring in the Freshmen race were Varun Nalla (21:22) and Evan Montesi with a PR 23:14.
Canton’s Junior Varsity finished 3rd in the JV race. Sai Vepa finished 10th overall with a season best 18:42. He was followed by Josh Knoll (18:48), Anurag Bangera (18:51), Sam Pierson (19:22), and Henry Styron (19:26). Anurag and Henry both ran season best times.
