Canton Girls Swim and Dive vs. PlymouthUpdated on 10/06/2025
The Canton Girls Swim and Dive team competed at Plymouth on Thursday night. This was the first season that Canton got to race in Plymouth's new natatorium. Besides, the over 80° indoor temperature, Canton enjoyed the experience.
The Cobras opened the meet with a pool record in the 200 medley relay swum by Amelia Pan, Audrey Huey, Hannah Gurgel, Abigail McAskin.
In the 200 freestyle, Mina Kennedy, Liv Lecluyse and Kate Stevens finished 2nd; 4th, 5th.
Hannah Gurgel cruised to a first place pool record finish in the 200IM. Audrey Huey and Michelle Zhang finished 3rd and 5th.
In the 50 freestyle Ximena Murillo, Jasmine Pham and Isabel Ellinger finished 1st, 3rd, 5th.
In one meter diving, Kiera, Shisler and Elise Quinn finished 4th, 5th.
In the 100 Butterfly Abigail McAskin Audrey Huey and Sidney Bennett finished 1st, 3rd, 6th.
In the 100 freestyle Ximena Murillo, Liv Lecluyse and Erin Yonker finished 1st, 3rd, 5th.
In the 500 freestyle Amelia Pan swam a pool record time. Ella Strutton and Perisu Okuyucu finished 3rd, 4th.
The Canton 200 freestyle relay swum by Hannah Gurgel, Abigail McAskin, Audrey Huey, Amelia Pan swam a pool record.
In the 100 backstroke Jasmine Pham & Mina Kennedy finish one-two in the event with Praanjal Pradeep being 5th.
In the 100 breaststroke Abigail McAskin, Erin Yonker finished 2nd, 3rd while Perisu Okuyucu finish 5th.
In the final event of the evening, Canton's 400 freestyle relay set a pool record with Hannah Gurgel, Amelia Pan, Mina, Kennedy and Ximena Murillo.
In addition to the pool record-setting events, some highlights in the 108/78 win vs the Wildcats where:
Kate Stevens in the 200 freestyle;
Samara Khan 100 freestyle;
Amaya Bosanko in the 500 freestyle;
Caitlin Gregory in the 100 backstroke whom qualifying for Wayne County Championships.
Canton's next competition is the Dexter Freshman / Sophomore Invitational on Saturday.
Next home competition is Tuesday, Sept 23rd vs Wayne Memorial. A select portion of the team will compete at 6pm.
