Multiple Teams · Summer 2020 Update- Girl’s Volleyball

Hello everyone!

With things constantly changing, I wanted to give everyone an update. At this point, we are not promised anything, but we will continue to proceed with our regular summer plans as if we are. If you are interested in trying out for the volleyball team this upcoming fall, please download the GroupMe app, then email your respective coaches with your name, grade, position, and phone number to be added to the group chat to stay up-to-date with the latest announcements.  Emails are listed at the bottom of this email.


Due to COVID, all summer camps have been cancelled..


All athletes must be registered in Planet High School with a physical to participate in any summer conditioning/training or tryouts. There are no exceptions. Please see the announcement titled ” 2020-2021 Canton Athletic Department Fall, Winter, Spring Sport Registration” for more details and instruction.

Summer Conditioning

We are currently conditioning 3 times a week and holding open gyms twice a week. We are enforcing social distancing and regular hand hygiene during our workouts.  Players are required to fill out the COVID screening form sent out in the group chat prior to each session. The balls and other equipment used are being sanitized with disinfectant wipes. If you are not comfortable with your child participating, that is no problem, everyone is still welcomed at tryouts. Our workouts are being held outside of phase 3. Everyone is required to bring 5$ for the trainer each time. We encourage you to bring lots of water, a snack for in between conditioning and open gyms, and hand sanitizer . Open gyms are free, and they are also being held outside with an outdoors volleyball net. Last but not least, IF YOU ARE SICK AT ALL, PLEASE STAY HOME.

Incoming Freshmen and Sophomores:

  • Conditioning: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am-11:30am
  • Open gym: Mondays and Fridays 8:30am-10am

Incoming Juniors and Seniors:

  • Conditioning Mondays and Fridays 8:30a-10am and Wednesdays 10am- 11:30am
  • Open gyms Mondays and Fridays 10am-11:30pm


Dead Week

Dead week is also considered preseason downtime. During this period, we are prohibited from conducting practices, open gyms, or conditioning. Dead week begins August 1st and ends the first day of tryouts August 12th.


Tryouts are being held August 12th and August 13th, hopefully in Phase 3. Freshman will wear white, sophomores will wear red, juniors will wear red, and seniors will wear black. Again, please bring your own water and hand sanitizer.

  • August 12th : 3pm-6pm
  • August 13th: 4pm-6:30pm

Incoming Sophomores

  • August 12th: 3pm-6pm
  • August 13th: 4pm-6pm

Incoming Juniors and Seniors

  • August 12th and 13th: 6pm-8:30pm
